Vape E-Liquid (Juice): Ingredients Explained

Vape juice also known as E-Liquid has 4 ingredients, now keep in mind they are all listed on the label with a may contain section as well - in the may contain section you will usually find ‘’traces of nuts’’ listed.

That being said vape juice is made up of vegetable glycerine, propylene glycol, nicotine and flavouring. Each component serves its own purpose.

Vegetable glycerin is a clear, thick and odourless water soluble liquid usually made from processed soy beans or palm trees - crazy I know - Vegetable glycerin on its own has a very mild sweet flavour and also preserves moisture, it is also food grade! (which is great if you don't want a super dry hit)

Propylene glycol is a thinner liquid, and has a more syrup-like texture, Similar to vegetable glycerin as its clear and odourless, also having a mild sweet flavour on its own. Propylene glycol is often used in cake frosting to make it easier to spread which also makes it food grade. This ingredient carries the flavour in your vape juice.

Flavouring concentrates found in E-Liquid are also food grade, being found in some common snacks and candies you already know and love.

Nicotine is found in different concentration levels in your vape juice, although zero nicotine options exist they are not as popular as a nicotine E-Liquid. Nicotine is a naturally extracted additive in vape juice. Nicotine can be found in 2 different versions, your traditional sub-ohm (or freebase) or your salt nicotine which are stronger to imitate a cigarette.

Vape juice is a much safer alternative to smoking a traditional cigarette. There are approximately 600 different additives that can be found in a cigarette including but not limited to:

  • Ammonia - which is not intended to be inhaled and can have some serious side effects,
  • Tar - yeah the same stuff they seal cracks in the roads with,
  • Lead - this is a very common compound found in ammunition and batteries, and
  • Formaldehyde - usually found in glues, adhesives and fertilizers (probably not a great idea to inhale that).
